Dealing with Sadness

Gail Leon Cleo copya

This is Cleo. She turned 16 on April 1. She lived a good full life and no matter how much we loved and adored her, I will always believe she gave us more than we could ever give back. If you were human she loved you. She wanted you to pet her and accept her hugs and kisses. No one was a stranger to her. And when she gave you one of the famous Dalmation smiles you were charmed and honored. She was our beloved furbaby and we shall miss her all the rest of our lives.

Last Monday we had to put her down. As so many of you have experienced the same wrenching heartbreak, you know how hard it is to make that decision. Not for them, because I believe quality of life is so important, human or animal, and hers had finally faded...but for us...as we know the grief and heartbreak we will have to live through until we can get to the other side of that grief of knowing she is no longer physically with us.

So I've been quiet lately and will probably be quiet a little longer but I'm thinking of you all and know you understand my heart needs a little space to deal with the sadness.

Daddy's girl.

Gail I just stumbled upon your blog via Pinterest. My heart aches for both you and your husband. I had a 19 year old Pug that crossed the rainbow bridge on November 29. There is a huge void still there and I miss her so much and I always will. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Take care and remember you did what Cloe would have asked you to do. ♥ Hugs ♥

so sorry for your loss-I think we are closer to our dogs than some people-they love us so unconditionally.

So sorry for your loss. Unless you have had a furbaby you don’t understand the pain of losing them. I am still missing my baby girl, Ginger, a beagle we had for 17 years that we had to put down over 5 years ago.

My heart is reaching right out to you Gail as yes we’ve been through it all ourselves a number of times with our dogs and kitties. and yes our hearts do need that bit of time and space before they can carry on in a happier way.
Our last furry girl is buried out in our backyard and with one of the sweetest acts I’ve had done to me, one of our neighbours(who also has loved cats) gave me one of those small solar garden lights on a stick, (not very expensive or spectacular but just right in the shape of a butterfly), to put out there so that we see her light every night when we look out the window. I get to say hello and goodnight every day to her. :)

Do you know I saw that Dalmatian smile many years ago and didn’t believe until I saw it! lol. It was a lovely thing to see.
Your baby was a very beautiful girl Gail. ♥♥♥

I am so very very sorry for the loss of your beloved sweet dog, It is so very difficult to be faced with the decision , you made for your lovely family pet, I too went through that with my sweet little side kick of 16 years, very heart breaking, time will heal, not a day goes by when I think of the joy my little dog brought me. It’s hard to say good-bye, but you will have wonderful stories to tell and remember for Auggie, I am so sorry for your loss, Take care,

Oh my Gosh….I am so sorry to hear of your sweet fur baby passing on. Have you read Rainbow Bridge? We too had to say good-bye to one of our Italian Greyhounds….I still feel him by my leg…or stumbling through the kitchen…I will keep you and yours in our prayers and remember…its ok to grieve and this sweet pup will always be in your heart & great memories…there is no replacing that….. I rarely ever comment or even read that much now on blogs…but this stole my heart and grieve for your loss….Take care…we’ll be here when your ready.

Oh Gail, I am so sad for you. What a beautiful dog she was and such a sweet face. We had a 16 year old dog, Auggie, that we also had to put down several years ago. I still miss her. So I know just what you are going through. So so sad. Our Bucky is getting old now too and that day is looming before me. :(( oxoxoxox

How to Measure for a Bracelet or Necklace

Measuring for a Bracelet

Measure your wrist with a flexible tape measure or a strip of paper just above the wrist bone, where you would normally wear the bracelet. If you use a plain strip of paper, make a mark with a pen or pencil. You can then use a ruler to measure the marked length. That would be your wrist size.

If you prefer a snug fit add 1/4" - 1/2" to your wrist size. For a little more of a comfort fit add approximately 3/4" - 1". If you like your bracelets really loose with lots of movement add about 1 1/4". It really is all about personal preference.

 Measuring for a Necklace

Necklace length is truly a personal preference. Lengths pictured here are guidelines for illustrative purposes only...to offer you a visual idea of where a necklace might lie.

Body build will make a difference in where a necklace will fall. The best way to determine where the length of a necklace will fall on you is to measure. It is very easy. Grab a soft tape measure (like used in dressmaking), and stand in front of a mirror. Wrap the tape measure around the back of your neck and find the lengths in front that you like best. No tape measure? No problem. Use something like a string or piece of ribbon, wrap it across the back of your neck and down your front where you want it to hang. Continue to hold on to one end for marking and use a ruler or tape measure and measure from your finger to the end.
